You are right, Luna2, the elder giving the publi talk would choose the 'appropriate' song to go with his uplifting discourse!

Had the Circuit Overseer
by KW13 indownstairs yesterday we had the circuit overseer.
i hate how they are supposed to be humble men, yet they have everyone worried.
its more like the boss checking on your work.

Core,
I liked your comments about the Bethel brothers and their marriage partners wlking to and from the IBSA house - just the other day I was in that area for my work and I decided to park up between the two buildings and have my packed lunch - sad I know! Yes they all looked a bit holier than thou, but I also thought what an easy life, not having to live in the real business world and they have got a job for life. Mind you the pay is not that good!
I actually felt sorry for them and so glad that I am out of it - never to return.
The other thing that struck me was how much value must be in their property portfolio - so many of those houses are owned by them and each must be worth at least 400k! -

Little Toe,
Bubble and I remember Brian Scott - he was v nice.
She knows some details about the older daughter but again the less said the better apparently.
I thought Michael Spur was a good motivational speaker and in fact he did get loads out on the ministry.
Mind you by the next week it was back to normal with just a handful of die-hards out! -

Overheard at the Book Study
by under_believer inhere are a few comments that i overheard at this week's book study (of the third chapter of the bible teach book), and the thoughts i had after hearing them: .
conductor: "as food shortages become more and more common as the time of the end advances, they will make excellent field service points since they were predicted by the bible.
me: great.

Woops - pressed the wrong button!!!! Let's try again!
Great thread under_believer - made me feel if I was right back at the group study. Nothing changes.
I remember thinking how some of the comments were so wacko it wasn't worth challenging them. I thought that those that gave them were too ignorant to know better.
I mean all of 'creation' is sooo well adapted to it's own environment - will lions grow different kind of teeth to deal with grass instead of meat? Will they stalk their new prey - blades of grass?
Virtually all of life is in a food 'chain' - I could go on for ages but the whole thing is so absurd.
Anyway glad I haven't been to the group for years. -

new prophecy
by why144000 inthe marauding maroons (the king of the north) will tonight decimate the king of the south.
the attacking nature of the north will darken the 'blue' sky.
this will not be the 'end' but merely the beginning of the end.

It was the first one I and my wife (Bubble) have been to.
We found it both therapeutic and entertaining, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was nice to hear others stories and experiences. The atmosphere was very informal and welcoming.
We wont guarantee that we will go to every meet up but we certainly will go again in the near future. I thought I would take this opportunity to promote this meet up. I'm sure there are many in the London area (and beyond) that would like to meet others that used to be JW's.
Scout575 is the organizer so I don't want to step on his toes, all I'm saying is that I enjoyed it and can reccommend it to others - the more the merrier!
Post to Scout575 for more details. -

Does your personal vehicle reflect your personality?
by Gregor inthere is a clever volkswagen tv ad currently running in the u s that depicts various types of people driving cars that reflect their personality, like older males driving sleek sports cars to compensate for their "shortcomings" or a younger man driving an expensive european sedan as he pronounces with a bullhorn "because my father never hugged me!
or another who says "because i make more money than you!
have any of you ever gotten your self image tangled up with a vehicle?

I am restricted by my company as to what car i can have as i get a company car.
I always try to get the best car possible as it has to last me 3 whole years until I get a shiny new one.
My current car is a BMW 3 series (or 'expensive European sedan') as the Yanks call it!
I like to drive a quality car, with upmarket interior and good dynamics - and yes maybe it does betray my personality.
I was in the US recently and I bought a few car mags as I am a car 'nut'.
I was amazed at how far behind America is compared to the European offerings from the likes of Mercedes or BMW etc. -

Say something horrible.............but true about your kids ..............
by vitty inalthough, the complaints may be valid and sad.
many posters here have vented about their wicked parents.. i think its time we parents have a post dedicated to saying something horrid about our kids.
it maybe something you have wanted to say about them that was in the past or happening now.

I have three kids of my own, all in their late teens.
One didn't do too well at school, does have a job now but not a very good one.
My middle child is doing quite well at college and very well in his part time job - he likes the money it brings. He saves some of it, goes out for nice meals with some of it and he gambles and drinks the rest!
My daughter is doing fine at school, in fact she is doing her final exams right now.
The only thing I dislike is that all three ague big time with their mother (my ex-wife) but are unwilling to stand up to her silly demands - she doesn't even want them to come round my house or go away on holiday with me - we got divarced years ago!
Ah well, life's full of ups and downs.
